2005-2006 Meetings: Thursdays 4-5pm
9/29/05 We played a game of ring toss to start the meeting. Then we learned/reviewed the sign, promise and law. We listened to the Brownie story to learn about being helpful little persons.
10/6/05 We colored and dressed paper dolls to look like brownies (makingfriends.com). Then we taped Popsicle sticks to the back to make them puppets. The girls worked together to create a short puppet show.
10/13/05 Today we had a real frog with us at our meeting. We glued pictures of leaves, a bug, a frog and a bird onto strips of paper. Then we taped the strips together in the order of the food chain to make an actual chain.
10/20/05 Today we learned about Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts in the US. Then we made bracelets by stringing beads.
10/27/05 We went to the Girl Scout office to fill the bird feeders and had our snack there.
11/10/05 We made spiders with pipe cleaners for legs and had our our investiture ceremony. First time brownies received their pin and everyone was awarded a certificate.
11/17/05 For this week’s meeting we did a couple chemistry experiments. We put pennies into cups of vinegar with a bit of salt, which made the pennies brighter. Then we placed steel hooks into the vinegar, which made the steel look dark.
12/1/05 Today we made our own butter. We placed ¼ cup of whipping cream and a dash of salt in a baby food jar and shook them until it made butter. We put the butter on crackers to have as our snack.
12/8/05 We made gingerbread man ornaments by mixing applesauce and ground cinnamon to make dough, then rolled it out on wax paper with a rolling pin. We used cookie cutters to make the shape.
12/15/05 We decorated the gingerbread man ornaments we made last week. We glued on foam, felt, yarn and painted them.
12/17/05 Christmas caroling with the Cub Scouts.
1/12/06 We made designs on pegboards with beads which were melted together using an iron.
1/19/06 Today we baked our own homemade soft pretzels.
1/26/06 We learned about eating right and made a food pyramid.
2/2/06 We decorated door hangers with different shapes.
2/9/06 We exchanged Valentines and make heart decorations with scissors and paper punches in unique shapes.
2/16/06 Today we made shrink art charms.
2/20/06 We went to Fun-n-Fitness Gym and learned some gymnastics moves.
2/23/06 We learned about Brownie pins of years past and learned the meaning behind the WAGGGS pin. We colored pictures of Girl Scout pins.
3/2/06 Today we played games with a parachute.
3/9/06 We heard a story from an older edition of the brownie book and make crafts from pipe cleaners.
3/16/06 We hand-dipped our own candles today.
3/23/06 We made dragon flies by gluing together ice cream spoons and attached them to clothes pins. Then we painted them and attached magnets.
4/13/06 Went to Build-a-Bear
4/20/06 We had a Daisy troop visit with us. We taught them about Brownie Scouts and played parachute games.
4/27/06 Today we made scratch art pictures. We also received our badges and awards from cookie sales.
5/4/06 We painted sun catchers and took a group photo outside.
5/11/06 We painted ceramic flowers and learned a new game.
5/18/06 We decorated frames with glitter glue and stickers.
5/25/06 Today we decorated butterfly magnets as part of our fly-up ceremony.

10/19/06 We made pumpkin people.
11/2/06 We had our investiture ceremony. Each girl looked into our mirror pond and said "Twist me and turn me and show me the elf, I looked in the water and saw myself." New Brownies received their brownie pins.

11/16/06 We made candy cane ornaments from beads and pipe cleaners to exchange at the Secret Sister Seasonal Swap on December 2.
11/30/06 We learned the Girl Scout Law and each scout made a coloring book for the different parts of the law.
12/7/06 Painted ceramic ornaments.
12/14/06 We made sit-upons from a table cloth and stuffed them with plastic grocery sacks.
12/21/06 We made reindeer ornaments for our Christmas trees at home.
1/11/07 Each scout was assigned a month to decorate for a troop calendar.
1/18/07 We made tie-dye shirts by putting rubber bands onto shirts before dying them Girl Scout Green.
1/25/07 Tour of the South Bend Chocolate Company.
2/1/07 We made origami fortune tellers and removed the rubber bands from our dried tie-dye shirts to see the designs.
2/8/07 We made starch ooze, coffee filter butterflies and bottle rockets during a badge workshop.
2/15/07 We made friendship sun-catchers and exchanged Valentines as a troop.
2/22/07 Today we decorated candle votive cups using découpage. We glued squares of colored tissue paper onto the cups. When they dry we will add candles.
3/1/07 Each girl scout made a necklace with letter beads that spelled her name.
3/8/07 We are learning the art of origami. This week we learned the basic folds to make doves.
3/15/07 Today we learned more advanced origami techniques and created an origami crane.
3/29/07 All the girls worked on sanding their pine wood derby cars before heading outside for snacks and games.
4/12/07 Today we made our own pinwheels and learned the meaning of the WAGGGS pin.
4/19/07 We made paper helicopters and played games with the parachute.
4/20/07 Gymnastics at Fun-N-Fitness.
4/21/07 Powder Puff Pinewood Derby. Alyssa came in 3rd place.
4/26/07 We created artwork with watercolors.
5/3/07 Today we colored with markers and played outside.
5/10/07 It was a beautiful day today so we had out meeting outside. We played games with the parachute.
5/17/07 Bridging and Fly-up Ceremony for 3rd graders. Troop year-end picnic.

10/16/07 We made Halloween decorations with fluorescent orange cardboard and foam stickers.
10/30/07 Today we decorated little buckets to look like scarecrows and learned some new songs.
11/6/07 Cookie sale information was handed out. We weaved foam strips into a mat with fall colors to look like Indiana corn.
11/13/07 We made Indian corn pins out of beads and raffia.
11/20/07 Each girl made a necklace of her name with lettered beads.
11/27/07 We began sanding and painting wood fireplace centerpieces for the holidays.
12/11/07 We continued painting our wood fireplace centerpieces.
12/18/07 Today we finished up our fireplace centerpieces and made reindeer and Christmas tree ornaments.
1/8/08 Cookies arrived today! We made sparkling snowflake magnets.
1/15/08 We sewed together leather purses as our craft.
